Box Social (noun): 1. A social event for a community, usually involving a picnic lunch or supper, during which decorated gift boxes, brought by the guests, are auctioned off as a fundraiser for the organisation that hosts the social. 2. A traditional social and fundraising event of the late 1800s and early 1900s that is long overdue for a revival. 3. An event that the Creston Museum is bringing back!
How it works: Fill a box with something other people might like - anything, as long as it won't spoil before the Box Social is over. Decorate the box - there will be prizes for the most creative containers - and bring it down. Enjoy a barbecued meal, bid on some of the boxes, and spend the evening visiting with old friends and new.
